Enjoy millions of the latest Android apps, games, music, movies, TV, books, magazines & more. Anytime, anywhere, across your devices. Mar 22, 2019 So, how to play MOV files on Android in this case? Well, in this situation, you can convert the given MOV files to another file format compatible with Android. There are two apps–Video Converter Android & VidCompact. You can use any of these apps to convert iPhone videos to Android. I am sure there are many other apps, but these too work fine.
- Mar 16, 2020 Elmedia Player is a free MOV player for Mac. A super friendly app that supports MOV perfectly well and allows you to play pretty much any file type you may ever decide to watch. Elmedia lets you choose the preferred language, encoding and adjust subtitles. It will work through a damaged AVI file, if you have one, to play it anyway.
- Jan 17, 2014 Quicktime player just won't play.mov files after Mavericks update. We got another i Mac here, exactly the same, same apps except FCPX and adobe Premiere. The ProRes movies work fine with QT 10. Unfortunately, ProRes is a 'Pro' codec editing codec and not normally targeted for simple 'playback' or 'file distribution' purposes. Therefore you.
- Dec 17, 2017 Hi, I have a dashcam which I have owned for some time now and have had no issues playing the videos recorded on it. I now however cant play any of the videos from it using a number of different media players such as. Windows media player ( on windows 10) Quicktime player, VLC player and more that I cant remember.
Perhaps elaborate about the origin of these MOV files. Often if even VLC won’t play a file, then the file is not a valid media file.
A tool like MediaInfo will try to look inside the media file to inform the user on the media details (meta data), such as video codec and audio codec, which are important factors in playback compatibility.
E.g. ‘rescued’ files may have problems, in that they do not contain the data anymore with which they were once thought to have been saved. Or some copying may have failed, resulting in 0 byte files. Et cetera.

I have this '.mov' file, how do I open it?
The first time I encountered the '.mov' format was not actually using an Apple device, but when I was recording home video on a Kodak Digital camera, way back, technologically speaking, in 2009. Nowadays if you find yourself the proud owner of a .mov multimedia file, it's most likely to be encoded into the Apple proprietary '.mov', multimedia format, rather than the Kodak one.
Maybe a friend has sent you what they promise is a hilarious video that you simply must see, or you've recorded a file on your new camera. Regardless of how you came across it, the fact remains: You now find yourself staring at the file 'exciting_and_hilarious_video.mov'…. without a clue what to do with it!
'How do I open and play, or edit, a '.mov' file?? (aka: Where can I find a .mov player for my device?') Here is a brief rundown on some of the best free and paid '.mov' capable software available for your devices.
Best MOV Video Players
#1. QuickTime for Mac (FREE)
If you own a Mac, you will probably already have Quick Time Player. QuickTime has been built by Apple to play Apple (proprietary) formats, including the.mov format.
For most Mac owners this is a no-brainer. Its compatible, it's free, and it's probably already installed… Standard QuickTime will happily pla y your '.mov' files.
Cons:However it does not include the functionality to edit or record '.mov'files.
#2. VideoLan for Mac/Windows (FREE)
VideoLan, or VLC, is a popular open source multimedia player with an almost cult-like following. One of the reasons for this is VLC's ability to play just about any format, straight out of the box. This includes the .mov format. What many people like about VLC, is the fact that it contains most common video and audio codecs, built in, meaning unlike other software, you don't need to download and install separate codecs to play your media. If you like to have one application for most of your multimedia playback, for example audio and video in various formats, then VLC is the most likely to comply. It's simple, quick and easy to install, and does what it should. Like Standard QuickTime, VLC will play, but not edit, or record, .mov files.
Cons:Itunes cleanup software mac free. VLC is not able to play MOV videos with original quality and you can't use VLC player on Mac with Mavericks.
#3. QuickTime Pro for Mac (PAID)
If you own software such as Final Cut, or Logic Studio, you may have a QuickTime Pro license included with that software. The same reliability and compatibility of QuickTime standard, with a lot of extra functionality. QuickTime Standard is a reliable .mov player.
However if you are the kind of person who likes to take whatever you do to the limit, or who is always looking for ways to go one step further, you may find that QuickTime Pro is a worthwhile investment for you. QuickTime Pro is designed to put you in the driver's seat. Whether you want advanced playback options such as second screen output, or need to unleash your own creative genius, QuickTime Pro has been designed with you in mind. Create your own multimedia for web, author video in multiple formats including HD, put your audience in the centre of the action with surround audio, or stream 3G compatible media. Your only limit is your imagination!
#4. Power Director (PAID)
If you have .mov files you want to include in your own creative endeavours CyberLinks' Power Director Software supports import of the .mov file type. Import your .mov, and other format files, then trim or cut those files, edit the video speed, quality, add titles, backgrounds, effects and transition. Once you have finished with your masterpiece, export it to Facebook, YouTube or a range of device formats..Or create a DVD Player compatible DVD, complete with menus and chapters. Great for combining video, audio or images from numerous sources/formats into one file.
Note: Can a bit 'crashy': Use with caution on PCs with limited Memory or CPU.
#5. FileMaster (FREE)
One of my favourite apps for the iOS, simply because it gives me close to complete 'raw' file system access without jail breaking my device, also supports this format. Simply copy a .mov file onto your device via iTunes or another app, and place the file into the FileMaster File system. Then open FileMaster, locate the file and touch it. It should automatically open and play.

Despite its unfortunate sounding name, BSPlayer has been well reviewed overall. It supports a large range of formats, including '.mov'. As well as the standard free version there is a version specially built for ARM processors (often the 'Cinderella of Android devices, when it comes to App availability). The free version has less functionality than the paid, and is supported by ads.
