Oct 21, 2017 I found that the vertical line disappears when you (first) select the lines for which you want the vertical line to disappear, then (second) select 'Indent' 'Outdent'. My late 2011 MacBook Pro has recently developed pink/purple vertical lines when I restart the computer. The Apple logo appears for a short time (until the loading line below it gets to about 15% complete), then the screen goes white. After a while the fan starts working hard. Safe mode start up does not work. The laptop has 16 Gb RAM and plenty of hard drive space available.
What is the likely problem that I am experiencing? How might I address this problem?
