  • I am very grateful to find your article! Our initial conditions are almost identical: 40-50+ Mini DV tapes recorded on Canon DV camcorder, first try with Mac iMovie and Firewire connection, problems with “No data from device” and writing a large number of very small files to the Mac.

Sep 14, 2007  I am trying ot capture video into the Mac for the first time from my new HD Canon XHA1. The MAC is not reading it. Then I tried using a sony GV-D300 Mini DV to capture the video into the Mac. Nov 20, 2016  How to transfer Mini DV content and movies from a Panasonic PV-GS85 Mini DV camcorder to a MacBook PRO year 2010 using a firewire thunderbolt with a fire wire 800 to 400 adapter.

Hi, first post here.
How can I set-up OBS to capture both video and audio from a Sony DCR-TRV22E PAL MiniDV camera? I can capture the video stream in OBS but not the audio. I'm using DV out of the camera by FireWire 400 / FireWire 800 adapter to Apple FireWire 800 / Thunderbolt 2 cable in to a MacBook Pro. The Source for Video Capture Device shows 'DV-VCR' but creating a Source for Audio Input Capture only shows 'Default', 'Built-in Microphone' and 'ZoomAudioDevice' (the MacBook Pro is used for Zoom meetings.)
Have I set-up OBS incorrectly?
I'm able to capture the video and audio from this camera using these cables to both iMovie, and to QuickTime Player, but QTP seems to have limitations on how long it can record. So the physical connection between the camera and the MacBook Pro is okay.
I'm running OBS Studio 25.0.8 and the MacBook Pro is running MacOS Catalina 10.15.5 .
Thanks in advance, and what a great project this is!

Leave the video camcorder powered off and simply lift up the boot from the camcorder and insert the smaller four-pin end of the FireWire cable into the the FireWire port of the camcorder
