My camcorder won't let me zoom.

The zoom toggle is not working.

Malfunctioning zoom toggle

If the toggle is broken, see the repair guide for replacement. For a temporary fix, there is a way to use the zoom function on the LCD screen. Simply touch the monitor on the buttons labeled 'T' and 'W' in the upper left-hand corner.

When I use the zoom function, there is a grinding sound.

When the camera moves to zoom, a grinding sound is heard.

Malfunctioning camera gears

Sometimes the gears of a camera wear down, resulting in a grinding sound and a slower function. If this is unacceptable, the gears of the camera can be replaced.

My camera won't turn on.

When the power button is pressed, nothing happens.

Dead or damaged battery

Make sure your battery has been charged. If you have a second battery, plug it in and see if the camera will turn on. To remove the battery, open the LCD screen and push the battery slide in the bottom corner of the camcorder. To replace, simply push the battery into the slot, matching the corresponding connections.

See the repair guide for instructions on removing the battery.

Dirty battery connection

To clean the connection, dampen a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol and rub the solution on the connection in both the camera and on the battery.

When I plug my camera into the TV, it doesn't show up on the screen.

Camera is not recognized by the TV.

The HDMI cord is damaged

In case the cord has a short or torn wire, try using a different HDMI cord.

Incorrect TV settings

Verify that the appropriate input is selected on the TV. Try turning both the camcorder and the TV off and back on again. Unplug and replug the HDMI cord back into to the appropriate ports. Make sure the cords are securely connected to all the components.

Nearby cables and electronics are causing interference

It is best to keep the HDMI cord separate from other cables. Make sure your HDMI cord is not twisted around or placed next to any other power cables.

My camcorder's picture is blurry.

The picture on the screen appears to be out of focus.

Autofocus is not focusing well

Check the lens and verify that there are no external causes to the problem, such as smears on the lens or dust behind the lens. If there are no external causes to the issue, and the camcorder’s blurriness persists, you may manually adjust the focus with the MF ASSIST option. If the environment is too dark for the autofocus, you may use the AF ASSIST LAMP to aid with the autofocus.

Dust behind the lens

Check that there is no external dust on the outside of the lens. If there is, take an alcohol wipe and proceed to wipe the surface of the lens, being cautious to not leave any scratches or smears. If there is dust behind the lens aperture, carefully remove the lens and use an alcohol wipe to clean the dust behind the lens. Shining a flashlight from behind the lens or using an alternative light source to identify the areas containing dust is recommended. When the lens is completely clear, carefully reattach the lens and the lens aperture, making sure to avoid damaging the component.

See the repair guide for instructions on removing and cleaning the lens.

The LCD screen appears damaged.

The camcorder's LCD screen is cracked, lines or distortions can be observed on-screen, or the screen is otherwise not functioning properly.

Confirm that your preferred LCD screen settings are correct on your camcorder. If there is any visible external damage on the screen, such as cracks or scratches, but the settings are correct and the digital screen does not show any defects, the external screen may be removed and replaced.
