The most important thing to remember is to use software designed for burning ISO files. If you simply copy the ISO file to a CD/DVD as if you were backing up a data file, it will not work properly. That method will not create a bootable disc.
Operating System
The process for burning an ISO file to disc varies by operating system:
Data CDs - if I burn windows data files inc.exe files in OSX using Burn onto a CD and give this CD to someone with a Windows computer, they cannot see any files on the CD, i.e.
- What do I need to burn discs? A disc drive that can burn discs. To create an audio, MP3, or data CD using Music, your Mac must have an Apple Combo drive or SuperDrive, or be connected to a USB SuperDrive. To create a data DVD, your Mac must have an Apple SuperDrive or be connected to a USB SuperDrive. Some other external drives might also work.

- Windows 7 and later
ISO burning is built-in. In File Explorer, right-click on the ISO file and select Burn Disc Image. Select 'Verify disc after burning' to make sure the ISO was burned without any errors.
In earlier versions of Windows 7, the Windows Disc Image Burner is accessed by right-clicking on the ISO file and selecting 'Open with..' from the menu, then choose Windows Disc Image Burner from the list. Insert a blank disc and click Burn.
Many programs add a 'burn image to disc' entry to the right-click menu, but be aware of what software is actually launched when clicking such entries.
- Windows 8 and later
Above methods will work, but you can also mount the ISO so it becomes a drive (double-click on the image or, right click and select 'Mount'.
- Mac OS X
For Mac OS versions prior to OS X, 10.11 El Capitan (sub-version important), you can use Disk Utility to burn ISO images to CD/DVD. Open the Disk Utility and select the 'Images/Burn' command. Choose the appropriate ISO file. Insert a blank disc and click Burn.
For later versions, right-clicking on the ISO file, or clicking it in Finder, will make a 'Burn Disc Image' available in the menu.
- Flavors of Unix including Linux
ISO burning may be installed by default, depending on your exact Unix/Linux/BSD distribution. The homepage of your specific operating system variant is the best place to start.
The list linked to below includes some software packages intended to be very beginner-friendly. Other tools often have additional features but may require familiarity with a command line environment. Utilities known to work include, in no particular order, wodim, bashburn, cdrecord, and even the classic dd.
Once you've burned the CD, confirm the disc was properly created by viewing the CD's contents. If it contains the same file that you donwloaded ('TENS-xxx.iso' or similar), then you saved the ISO image as a file to the CD, rather than its contents. Please try again!

- Start the burning process.

- Select an option write files/folders to disc
- Then go to Tools and click an option create CUE file.
