This troubleshooting page will help you diagnose problems with the Escort Passport 9500IX

Device Won't Power On

May 12, 2019  Escort Passport 8500×50 can detect multiple radar bands at once with its average detection range, and boasts of AutoMute to keep you focused and jolted less for alarms while driving. However, it lacks a USB port to update firmware and couldn’t connect to Escort Live for added coverage.

The Radar will not respond or show any sign of powering up.

Ensure the lighter adapter is plugged in and the on light is on. If the light is not on, and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.

Distorted Audio/No Sound Is Produced

The sound being produced by the radar sounds staticky or no sound is being produced at all.

Display Hangs On Black Screen

Your radar’s display is black and won’t show anything on its display.

Make sure that the radar is connected and powered on. If the radar is connected but doesn’t power on, then you could have a faulty lighter adapter and needs to be replaced.

Escort 9500ix Software Upgrade

If the radar’s display isn’t responding and just stays on the black screen, then the display is damaged and at fault. First check to see if the display brightness is up. If the brightness is up and the display is still on a black screen, then the display is at fault. Contact Escort Radar Company to replace your radar.

Device Does Not Respond

The device doesn't respond when pressing down on any of the buttons.

Passport 9500i Firmware Update

Your device might be an older version and out of date and might not be able to connect to your vehicle. Try downloading the most recent version. Go to How to Update Escort Passport 9500IX to update your radar.
