Hello,

What ever I do, I keep getting this error when trying to reinstall the OS: 'an error occurred while preparing the installation. try running this application again'

I have tried the following:

-Disk utlitity, cleaned the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

One error that customers often come across while upgrading their machines occurs during the re-installation of macOS or OS X, and it has a relatively simple fix. Once booted into the recovery partition and after selecting “Reinstall OS X”, the “Eligibility Verification” window shows up. The error occurs as soon as you click “continue”. OS X prior to Mavericks (10.9) actually comes with Maven 3 built in. If you're on OS X Lion, you won't have java installed by default. Just run java by itself and it'll prompt you to install it. Assuming qualifications are met, run mvn -version and see some output like this. Apache Maven 3.0.3 (r1075438; 2011-02-28 12:) Maven home: /usr/share/maven Java version: 1.6.029, vendor. Jan 11, 2020  Am trying to install El Capitan on an external drive, and is stucked at this error; 'OS X could not be installed on your computer. No packages were eligible for install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.' Jul 14, 2009  It seems like there is a problem with the disk, try cleaning it, or if possible, trying another one If not, open Disk Utility from the install disk, and choose to Repair Disk 0007776. Dec 19, 2017  Hi there. I'm trying to install Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac on my MacBook Pro (13') running OS X El Capitan (10.11.6). When i start installing Office: 1. Introduction - Continue 2.

-Internet recovery - Getting the same error.

-Booted the iMac - so it installs the OS that came with it (El Capitan). Same error!

11g63

-Downloading MacOS from app store from 2 different macs, putting it into a USB (Bootable) - getting the same error.

Tried re-downlading the app 3 times!

-Going in to terminals, typing in 'date'. The date is 100% correct.

Looks like I am out of luck.. anyone who can help

What else can I do? I have tried for several hours, but it wont let me install the OS?

How to fix “This item is temporarily unavailable” error:

Please try each step until you resolve your issue:

  1. Please ensure that you’re using the same Apple ID to sign in that you used when this macOS was originally installed. Because it it highly likely that the problem is due to the fact that the original OS was installed under a different AppleID. Simply enter the original Apple ID. If you do not know the original Apple ID (e.g.; you are experiencing this because this is a second hand, used computer), try #4.
  2. Wrong date and time may cause this. Hold down the Command and R; then you will see the “MacOS Utilities” screen, select the “Utilities” menu from the top of the screen and choose “Terminal”. Terminal will let you set the date manually from the command line by entering the “date” command string, like this: date 071910172018 (current date and time which is July 19, 20188; at 10:17). Close Terminal and try again.
  3. It is highly likely that you are experiencing this issue because your Apple ID is not associated with an Mac OS. You can resolve this issue this also. When you see the utilities window, click Get Help Online to browse the web. This will open the Safari app. Then go to icloud.com (link) and sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID and password. Now go back to the utilities window (install screen) and try again.
  4. The problem may be that your Mac is trying to install a version of OS that was last installed on this particular computer. This may be an issue especially if this is a second had, used Mac. Please follow these steps: Start up your Mac in Internet Recovery Mode. Here is how: Simply restart your Mac, and press and hold down the Command (⌘) – Option (⌥) – R after the startup sound. Release the keys when you see the globe icon saying ““Starting Internet Recovery. This may take a while.” As it says, it may take a few minutes. Next, you will be asked you will be asked to connect to a wireless network. Select your Wi-Fi connection. After that your Mac will download a recovery system image from Apple’s servers. Your Mac will restart, and select install Mac OS. You mac will install the version of OS that was factory-preloaded on your Mac at the time of purchase. So this may work.
