I've tried every combination of OS X turning time zone support on and off, on iOS turning Time Zone Override on and off, using Floating time zones.

What I want to do seems simple. When I enter a time in calendar, I want it to stay that time no matter what time zone I happen to be in. I want alerts to work properly. No matter what time zone I'm in, I want alerts to match the time I have set in my calendar to the time in the time zone I happen to be in,.

I don't want Calendar to second-guess me. I don't want my watch and iPhone to have different time that on my Mac. I don't want alerts to be hours off.

The closest I've come to a solution is to turn on Time Support, and have the discipline to always select Floating. But I don't want to have to make two extra entries, and to remember to do so every time I schedule something. Even when I've turned Time Zone support on, mysteriously, time zone isn't even an option in some events (events that I myself scheduled).

Allowing me to default to Floating would be a fine workaround. I haven't figured out how to do that.

Why? When the airline sends my itinerary, it always shows landings and takeoffs in whatever time zone the landing is. I don't care what time zone my layover is. I don't want to have to enter it. I don't what to have to figure out what time zone every airport is in. I just want to enter the time! The way it works now, if I don't know the time zone of the airport where I'm just changing planes, Calendar displays my landing in the time zone of wherever I started. It then shows that I have a much longer or much shorter layover than I actually do.
