Update Old Mac To New Software Rating: 8,1/10 25 reviews

There's a lengthy list of Apple gadgets that won't be supported. For iPad models, you won't have the option to update if you have an iPad 1, 2, or 3, or an iPad Mini. When it comes to iPods, don't expect the new features if you have a 5th-generation iPod touch or older. And if you're reading this on an iPhone 4S or older, then you're out of. Jul 12, 2018  Wipe your old Mac and reinstall macOS. With your new machine all up and running with your data transferred, or at least two backups if you don’t have your new MacBook.

When I open iTunes and iPhoto (and some others) I'm told that there are new versions/updates available. When asked whether I want to download them now, I click YES and it takes me to Software Update (as usual). However, when Software Update launches and searches for updates, it tells me that there are no new updates available. Here are the steps I've taken so far:
Reset manual settings (?? all I know is the Apple guy told me to restart the computer holding Command, Option, P and R I think)
Repaired permissions
Repaired disk (worked somewhat because it showed me the available updates but when I went to download them they said the server was unreachable and when I re-opened Software Update the updates were no longer visible)
Does anyone have any other brilliant ideas???
THANKS!
PS: The last successful update was on March 20 2010 with Safari 4.0.5 and a Digital Camera update.

The App Store only shows updates for the OS you are using at the moment, in your case Yosemite 10.10.5.

If you want to go to another newer OS that is called an upgrade. This can be done through the App Store using the following link.

High Sierra is the last/ newest OS your Mac can use. Scroll down to Section 4 and click on Get macOS High Sierra.

Make a full back up of your Mac before upgrading.

Check to see with the developers of any third party apps you use that there are updates available so they will continue to work in the new OS. Another thing you need to check is if any printers/ scanners etc you use have updated drivers and software so they too can continue to function in the new OS.
